A LOCAL dentist is using her newfound platform as a state finalist for Miss Universe Australia to raise money for a children's charity.

Shelby Armstrong, who works at Tankard Dental locations in Mildura, Ouyen, and Irymple, was encouraged to apply for the competition by a friend and a patient.
