AFTER nearly two weeks of firefighting efforts, two major bushfire south of Sunraysia have been declared contained by authorities.

The fires in the Grampians and Little Desert national parks were sparked by dry lightning on January 27, spread rapidly due to hot weather and strong winds.

In Little Desert, the fire burned more than 95,000 hectares within the first few days.
