ASSOCIATES of two men accused of setting fire to their units in Mildura in separate incidents last month say gaps in the mental system system led to an avoidable outcome.

Fires gutted a Sarnia Avenue unit off Thirteenth Street on January 28 and a Woorlong Court unit off Tenth Street on January 30.

The men accused of lighting the fires aren't known to each other, but have similar back stories.
