A SPECTACULAR blaze at a Cabarita salvage yard tested firefighters on Tuesday afternoon, taking nearly four hours to bring under control.

In hot conditions, timber stored on racks at the Flora Avenue site fed flames that grew as high as 10 metres.

Additionally, access to water challenged fire crews in the early stages of fight, which was reported to authorities just after 5pm.
