CONSERVATION efforts aimed at supporting the recovery of the endangered Mallee emu-wren are continuing in the region, a bird species almost wiped out by fires in 2014.

The Mallee emu-wren population was decimated due to extensive fires, which led to the bird becoming virtually extinct in South Australia.
