SMOKE from a bushfire more than 300 kilometres away blanketed the Sunraysia region in a haze on Saturday, with the shroud even reaching Robinvale, Euston and Gol Gol.

The smoke came from a large fire in the Grampians that was so bad that as of 10.30am Sunday a watch and act message from Vic Emergency declared Halls Gap as not safe to return to, with the bushfire not yet under control.
