A FEDERAL inquiry into the health impacts of alcohol and other drugs in Australia has been told Mildura does not have the population base to support a 30-bed rehabilitation facility in the region.

The Victorian Government announced in August the former Merbein Primary School site in Jenner Street would be the site for the new drug and alcohol rehab service, earmarked for completion in 2026.
