SOME residents along Sandilong Avenue at Irymple were taken aback by a development application for a childcare centre cornering the Calder Highway.

Earlier this month, affected residents and businesses were informed a proposal for a childcare centre to cater for a maximum of 88 children had been lodged with Mildura Rural City Council.
