A WELL preserved piece of local footballing history has been recovered from a storage box in Hamilton.

One of the pennants handed out to the 1947 Millewa Football League premiership winning team, Werrimull, was found in the home of former player Hal Basham.

Serving as a policeman in Werrimull between 1945 and 1950, Hal featured in the 1947 Magpies team which broke a 17-year premiership drought.
