A SENIOR Mildura Council manager has conceded that processing times for planning permits have “not been acceptable” in recent years, with staff shortages chiefly to blame for the blowouts.

However, a backlog of applications is finally being cleared after a successful six-month recruitment drive to fill several positions in the council’s statutory planning department.
