A MECHANICAL fault has rendered Mildura fire station's only aerial pumper truck useless, prompting concerns that local crews lack the equipment to respond to emergencies.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews responded to a small scrub fire past Cardross on Saturday morning, but encountered a critical fault in their attempt to return Aerial Pumper 72 to the station.
