A GRASS fire which damaged a shed in Red Cliffs Wednesday night was believed to have been started by a cigarette butt thrown out the window of a moving car.

Four CFA units and 20 fire fighters attended a property on the Calder Highway between Snowy Avenue and Millewa Road at about 9.30pm to find the grass ablaze between the highway and the property's fence.
