THE Victorian Government has appointed Brett Davis as the next Cross Border Commissioner.

Regional Development Minister Gayle Tierney announced the recent Moyne Shire Council chief executive would assume the role next month.

He will replace inaugural commissioner Luke Wilson, who is stepping down after five years.
