A NEW dried-grape variety could pave the way for local growers to abandon old sultana vines that may be letting them down.

Dried Fruits Australia held a field walk on Thursday, introducing growers to Murray Bold, a light, high-yielding, rain-tolerant varietal that is resistant to downy mildew.
