SUNRAYSIA residents won’t have to wait long for sweltering summer weather, as temperatures are tipped to soar past 40 degrees this week.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast Monday’s temperature to reach 36 degrees, before climbing to 39 on Tuesday.

A top of 37 was expected on Wednesday, followed by 42 on Thursday.
