BACK in the mid-1980s, it was decided that a section of Langtree Avenue would be closed to traffic to become a mall.
This brought to an end the era of the "Langtree Avenue cowboys", several generations of ordinary local people, mostly young men, loosely linked by their love for their hotted up old cars and the "laps of Langers" that were a weekend night-time ritual in the centre of town.
