JOHN Shanahan looked out over the sea of people gathered at Nowingi Place and with tears in his eyes reflected on the life and legacy of his son.

"Nathan would be looking down proudly," he said.

Hundreds turned out for Saturday's Walking Off The War Within event, which was created in memory of Nathan Shanahan, a fierce advocate for mental health, who lost his battle in December, 2016.
