THE longest train to ever run on the V/Line freight rail network came to Merbein on Tuesday, to explore the possibility of increasing Sunraysia's rail export capacity.

Seaway Intermodal, V/Line and Pacific National combined their efforts to arrange the trial of a 1500m freight train travel from the Port of Melbourne to Merbein and back.
