POLICE have rejected claims that Mallee towns would lose their one-person police stations to fill vacant shifts at larger regional stations.

A report in the Melbourne-based Weekly Times newspaper last week suggested officers from 98 one-person cop shops would be rostered to large 24-hour stations.
