Mildura Anzac Day program

THE Mildura RSL has released its program for ANZAC Day, with a number of events planned throughout the morning for community members to honour and remember veterans.

The Dawn Service will take place at Henderson Park at 6.10 am with wreaths to be placed by dignitaries and veterans before a gold coin donation breakfast at 6.30am.

Mildura RSL general manager Kim Archibald said he expected a big turn out.

"We normally get 4500 at the dawn service but with the warm weather this year we are expecting more,” Mr Archibald said.

A war graves service will take be conducted at 8.30am at Nichols Point Cemetery with wreathes to be placed at graves by students from St Joseph's College .

The march will begin at 11am on the corner of Deakin Avenue and 8th Street with the party to proceed along Deakin Avenue to 13th Street before reaching Henderson Park.

The Commemoration Service will then begin at 11.30am with speeches, poem readings, the Ode of Remembrance and the Last Post.

Mr Archibald hoped the community would pay their respects.

"This is the biggest day of the year for the Mildura RSL and we encourage the community to honour past and present veterans,” he said.
