A Mildura fundraiser aimed at aiding victims of the recent Turkish earthquakes has raised $28,000 in eight days.

Turkish Mosque President Mutti Eser said he simply wants to help in any way he can.

"It's a heartbreaking situation. We lost so many people and thousands more are injured," he said.

"People are losing loved ones, their houses, they just need the help."
