SUNRAYSIA'S Meals on Wheels recipients will soon receive an extra gift with their meals this festive season, thanks to Sunraysia Patchwork Friends.

Sunraysia Patchwork Friends recently completed 200 quilted placemats, which were this week donated to Sunassist.

Secretary Janet Pietsch said it was great to be able to donate the items during the Christmas season.

"It is just nice to give something to people that are mostly living on their own and getting meals on wheels," she said.

"It's a nice surprise for them at Christmas time."

Ms Pietsch said the placemat project was one of many community projects the group had worked on this year.

Members created placemats in their own time, using their own materials.

"It has been a terrific response," Ms Pietsch said.

"There are a lots of different ones and there was lots of skills involved in making them."

Sunassist executive officer Richard Garlick said it was always great to receive support from the community.

"The ladies at Sunraysia Patchwork Friends have certainly done a great job," he said.

"We really appreciate the support and I'm sure the clients will too."
