RISING floodwaters are forcing snakes into Mildura homes in search of food.

The animals, as well as foxes and feral cats, have been spotted in residential areas away from their normal habitats with the floods still yet to reach their peak.

Mildura snake catcher Steven Morrow said it could be months before the snakes could return to their riverside bush environments.
