MALLEE communities are still counting the cost of Saturday’s hailstorm, which uprooted trees, flattened crops, smashed windows and left a trail of destruction.

The storm ripped through parts of the Buloke and Yarriambiack shires and the Mildura council area about 5pm, hitting a number of townships along the Sunraysia Highway, including Gypsum, Tempy and Speed.
