BALRANALD Shire Council has been shocked by the sudden death of general manager Jeffrey Sowiak earlier this week.

Council administrator Mike Colreavy said Mr Sowiak had made his mark on the organisation after joining in April.

His final public appearance was at a community flood update at Euston last Thursday.
