Bin night change for parts of Mildura

RESIDENTIAL growth has forced Mildura Rural City Council to change some bin collection services.

The change will affect residents bound by Deakin and San Mateo avenues between Twelfth and Fourteenth streets.

Also affected are those in the area bound by Eleventh Street and Cureton Avenue East between Benetook and Cowra avenues.

From November 28, bins in these areas will be emptied on a Monday on an ongoing basis. The changes will apply to recycling, organics and rubbish bins.

The council said the changes were necessary due to residential growth throughout Mildura.

Green organics bins were emptied every week, while the red general rubbish bins and yellow recycling bins were emptied every fortnight. Residents should place bins out the night before collection days.

Mildura residents will get a fourth kerbside bin for glass in 2024, in line with new State Government legislation requiring all Victorian councils to provide households with a standardised four-bin system by 2030.

The council said up to 2365 tonnes of glass could potentially be recycled locally through the new service each year.
