A TEAM of more than 40 Agriculture Victoria staff have been deployed to Sunraysia to monitor a devastating pest that threatens the region's $500 million almond industry.

Agriculture Victoria said it was implementing biosecurity measures to ensure a safe almond pollination and keep Victoria free from varroa mite, and has banned bees and hives from entering the state from New South Wales.
