IT was a bittersweet day for the long-running Merbein Progressive Group Inc. on Sunday, when it hosted its very last market before closing its shopfront and nursery in the coming weeks.

President Rob Nelson said since the group began, 14 years ago, it had established the monthly Merbein Market, set up the popular Paddock Garden and a shopfront with information and resources for residents.
