HOPES of a big wet stemming from the La Nina weather phenomenon have dried up, but Mildura's rainfall in 2021 was a welcome bounce-back after recent dry years.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Chris Arvier said although Mildura's rainfall numbers were below the long-term average, receiving close to 80 per cent of the annual average was acceptable for the region.
