A NEW baby is always big news, but this "little" fellow's first achievement in life was off the scale.

The little boy is Mildura Base Public Hospital's largest baby born this year, weighing in at 5.7kg, or about 12.5 pounds in the old-fashioned measurement many people still apply to newborns.
