A YOUNG Wentworth man will spend at least five years behind bars for the "brutal attack" of a backpacker on George Chaffey Bridge.

Yarrun Graham Taylor Morgan was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years' jail with the non-parole period set by Judge Michael Bourke in the County Court of Victoria on Thursday.
