VICTORIA Catherine Pearse never met her father, but the name her mother gave her meant she would never be able to forget him.

The baby girl's initials were a reminder of the Victoria Cross, or VC, Koorlong rabbit-trapper Samuel George Pearse was posthumously awarded after losing his life in an act of bravery in Russia.
