JUDGES have hailed the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show (AAVWS), which ended in Mildura on Saturday, as the most important wine show in the country.
While organisers were forced to manage around COVID-19 restrictions this year after the 2020 show was cancelled due to the pandemic, strong entry numbers have convinced them that a return to the heady days of 800-plus entries could come as early as next year.
The feature Awards Long Lunch could not be held this year and was replaced by an online awards event on both Facebook and YouTube, which proved extremely popular.
