THE annual Aussie Backyard Bird Count, run by BirdLife Australia, is about to take flight across the country, providing participants the chance to be fully present with their feathered friends.

Running from October 18 to 24, taking part in the count is easy. Participants need spend just 20 minutes in their favourite outdoor space and then document the birds they see in that period.
