PROUD Barkindji woman Shantelle Thompson has been recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to the indigenous community of Victoria.

Ms Thompson, born and raised in Dareton, is a three times Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and active community leader, as well as a mother of four.
