Mildura Base Public Hospital reopens after lockdown

MILDURA Base Public Hospital (MBPH ) was sent into lockdown late yesterday due to an “evolving situation”.

MBPH sent home non-essential hospital staff and locked the doors.

No visitors were allowed at the hospital during the lockdown.

The emergency department was still accepting emergency patients, although strict security was in place.

But Victoria Police said just after 5pm that there was no threat to the community and the doors were reopened.

Police said the lockdown was a precaution taken over a family violence issue they were continuing to investigate.

In a statement on the MBPH Facebook page about 5.30pm, a hospital spokesperson said services had resumed.

“Mildura Base Public Hospital would like to advise the community that after being forced to lock down for a short period of time this afternoon on the advice of police, that we are now open and have resumed all services,” the post read.
