Mildura's Craig Proctor is calling on council to erect a memorial for the Rats of Tobruk soldiers of the Sunraysia district as the 80th anniversary of the siege approaches.

Mr Proctor, who is a researcher for the descendants of the Rats of Tobruk Association, said the battle in Libya is a crucial part of World War Two.
