THE first stage of a multi-million dollar upgrade to Abbotsford Bridge is almost complete.

The bridge that connects Victoria to New South Wales was officially opened in 1928 and at almost 100 years old was in desperate need of an upgrade.

Transport NSW project engineer Thisal De Silva said the first stage of upgrades to the bridge, between Yelta and Curlwaa, would be completed by Friday, July 3.
