ARTHUR Williams had no intention of reaching his 100th birthday.

But on Saturday he will be celebrating the occasion with family and friends.

Mr Williams was born one of five children in Wallaroo, South Australia.

He moved to Mildura in 1986, with wife May, who wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of Adelaide.

Mr Williams said their only child, Ron, was a "pleasant mistake".
