WENTWORTH Shire councillors have awarded themselves a pay rise of almost 5 per cent for the 2020-21 financial year.

This week's council meeting was told the current term of councillors had not received a rise for some time and last year voted to put their remuneration on hold for 2019-20.

That kept councillor remuneration at $11,570 each plus an additional $25,520 for the mayor.
