FORMULA 500 Speedweek title winner Max Owen started the new Stampede Series season on a high at Mildura's Timmis Speedway on Saturday.

The Warrnambool driver took out the A Main final, coming from ninth at the start of the race to take the chequered flag at the first series event at the prestigious venue for a number of years.
