NEWLY crowned “King of the Desert” Mason Semmens said victory in the Hattah Desert Race had been a goal of his for more than a decade.

After previously winning a number of junior classes, the 22-year-old said it was only just sinking in that he took the chequered flag to win the iconic off-road event.
