TEXTURE and colours were the the high point of Fashions on the Field at this year’s bet365 Mildura Cup.
Entrants to the competition competed for a prize pool worth more than $4000 of Mildura City Heart sponsored vouchers across four categories, hosted by former jockey and racing MC Casey Bruce.
These included Lady of the Day, in recognition of traditional racewear, as well as Most Fashionable Lady for more current and modern attire, as well as awards for millinery, and Most Fashionable Man.
“Competitions like this are hard because not only does every person look absolutely stunning, it takes a lot of guts to get up on that stage,” judge Jo Harrison said.
Fellow judge Andrea Doering said all of the looks had been very high-class and city-standard this year.
“People chose their accessories really well and went to a lot of trouble with their hats, it was such a beautiful country day and I think the fashions really reflected that,” she said.
The variety of styles and patterns throughout all of the categories had been the main standout for fellow judge Pina Hardwick.
“I think people dressed today for what they like rather than just what’s in, and you can tell they felt comfortable and confident,” she said.
Fashions on the Field organiser Maria Robinson said the event had been a great turnout.
“All of the ladies looked so elegant and everyone enjoyed themselves, it’s a real credit to the effort all of the contestants put in and they’ll are all winners to me,” she said.
