Cook up a storm with a fine cup of coffee

MANY new recipe books have been added to our collection at the library.

The following titles will inspire you to get out your mixing bowl, grab a spoon and swing into action.

The Coffee Book

By Anette Moldvaer

THIS book shows you how to “deepen your coffee knowledge, experiment with different beans, methods and flavours,” enabling you to become a barista at home. Seventy delicious coffee recipes are included.

“Sitting in a café with a delicious coffee is one of life’s great pleasures.” It is enjoyed by millions of people worldwide, and has become an experience particularly savoured during the difficult times we currently find ourselves in, although it is now often consumed while sitting outside.

It is thought the history of coffee goes back to Yemen in the 1600s. From there it was eventually exported and traded all around the world. The many varieties of the Coffea genus are discussed and the major geographic sources of coffee beans are documented. Information regarding growing, harvesting and the processing of coffee beans is included. The complex aromas and flavours are presented in four flavour wheels, enabling you to identify and compare the key features – aromas, flavours, textures, acidity levels and aftertastes – of different coffee varieties.

Guidance is provided for selecting quality beans and also for storing, home roasting, grinding and brewing processes. Detailed step-by-step recipes are accompanied by clear illustrations and photographs of some of the end products, ready to serve.

This book is a great resource for the serious coffee buff.
