Give boxing a go to battle the lockdown blues

WITH lockdowns perpetually looming and scarcely giving us respite, boxing might just be the simplest and most cost-effective form of exercise to do at home.

I get it, lockdowns are hard, especially if you regularly exercise at a gym or play sport.

If you’re finding yourself in a situation where you’ve got no gym equipment available and you don’t want to go for a run, then boxing is a great way to get a full-body workout.

All you need to get started is a set of boxing gloves, focus pads and some cotton inners and wraps for hygiene and wrist safety.

The other good thing about boxing is you’ll need a partner to box with, and it might just be the nudge your other half needs.

Now, with that being said, boxing does require a level of technical form to prevent injury.

This includes boxing stance, throwing a punch (not a push) and catching punches correctly if you’re the padder.

You’ll be able to find some instructional videos on our Instagram page (@141fitness).

There’s a variety of workouts and image references for you to follow along with at home, including a few bonus home workouts.

All you have to do now is organise time with your boxing partner and enjoy a sweaty workout in the sunshine.
