Tips to help you get motivated to exercise

Honestly, I get it. It’s definitely OK to feel like this. Especially with everything happening at the moment, it’s very hard to get a good run to build momentum and habits with your workouts and exercise.

What do I find helps people with the motivation to exercise? Here are 5 tips you could use if you’re struggling to get moving.

1. Get friends to help you stick to your goals.

2. Pack clothes the night before so you’re ready in the morning, or straight after work.

3. Have an exercise plan.

4. Work out in a group.

5. Start small, such as 2-3 times a week. Give yourself the target to complete your exercise or workout.

Having a support network at the moment is probably one of the most important things – we are human after all and want to be social. Having good friends you can lean on for support, or a family member who can do the workout with you.

Getting yourself organised and ready in advance is something I see work for quite a few people. Getting your gym clothes ready the night before removes another obstacle.

The more consistent you are the simpler things will become and soon enough you will not believe how far you have come, then you may become someone else’s support friend.

Understand no one can do it for you – yes they can help – but can’t do it. That’s on you.
