When it comes to exercise, think positive and jump in

By Daniel Coghlan

I SEE first-hand what holds people back from achieving their goals.

Here are the likely top five reasons that you may not be reaching yours.

– Worrying what other people think of you, or will think of you

– Self-doubt

– Wanting to start on a “Monday”

– Thinking one bad day is “falling off the bandwagon”

– Wanting to “lose weight” or “get fit” before they even start or step foot into a gym

Do any of these sound familiar? Have you been guilty of these thoughts before?

Don’t feed bad. You’re not alone.

But let’s try and shift your thought process positively that will hopefully boost confidence to get out there and get started.

This may sound blunt — and don’t get offended — but no one who is also in the gym doing their own thing is judging you.

They won’t. They know what it’s like to be a beginner, and they’re also there for themselves.

You’ll never achieve anything by telling yourself you can’t. Stop that now and tell yourself you can.

Sure, Mondays are a fresh working week. But it doesn’t hurt to start on a Sunday or a Wednesday.

Start when you’re ready. The more you postpone it, the longer it’ll take gain momentum.

One bad day doesn’t make you fall off the wagon. Just like one bad meal doesn’t make you unhealthy.

It’s an accumulate of events that creates an average.

Please stop trying to lose weight before joining a gym or starting with a personal trainer.

What are you paying a PT or a gym membership for if you want to go at it alone before you start?

In summary, spend your time, money and thoughts wisely and positively.

You can achieve what you set your mind to. Don’t let little things or self-doubt sabotage you along the way.
