Plant-based cafes sprouting up in Mildura

PLANT-based cafe and restaurant numbers are growing in Mildura as demand continues to increase.

Clove Organic Shop and Cafe at 121A Eighth Street boasts a range of vegan dishes including a coconut curry, lasagne and creamy pasta bake.

Clove is a not-for-profit operation which is assisted by volunteers.

“We would not exist or run smoothly if it weren’t for the help of our incredible volunteers,” Clove said on its website.

“If you are passionate about sustainable living, organics, nourishing food an would like to get involved, pop into our store and speak to one of our staff to find out how,” it said.

Solunar at 190 Deakin Avenue has a menu entirely composed of plant-based dishes.

However, proteins such as beef and chicken can be added.

Solunar brews Seven Seeds coffee and sells locally sourced Spanish-style food.

Mr Bunmi at 852 Fifteenth Street is an authentic Vietnamese street food restaurant.

Upon request, Mr Bunmi sells a vegan version of its stir-fried Chinese broccoli for $20 as a main.

Blk Mlk at 51 Deakin Avenue brews Five Senses coffee and is advertised as a vegetarian friendly cafe with vegan options.

Open for breakfast, brunch and lunch, Blk Mlk is known for its breakfast bowls, fuelling salads and green matcha brioche burger buns.

Glow Nutrition Cafe at 0132A Eighth Street serves nutricious food including a selection of vegan meals.

Glow Nutrition boasts smoothie bowls and other plant-based foods such as sweet potato fries and jackfruit.

In addition to its maze, stone-cutting and gem displays, Woodsies Gem Shop at 516 Cureton Avenue also provides plant-based treats at its cafe, Little Kim’s.

Nash Lane is now open in two locations – 163-165 Tenth Street and the corner of Thirteenth and Ontario streets. Both offer a range of vegan options including salads, acai bowls and grain-based meals.
