Visitors to vie for the Cup

THE Ballarat training partnership of Tony and Calvin McEvoy will be hoping their consistent mare Timeonlees can record an overdue win as the bet365 Mildura Cup Carnival continues with the Family Fun Day at Sandilong Park this Saturday.

Timeonlees will contest the bet365 0-58 Handicap and although she has only one race win, she has been placed on nine occasions from her 15-start career.

The four-year-old has shown that a win is not far away after finishing second at her past two starts at Echuca and Ballarat.

“She has been knocking on the door and has always found one better in her races. Hopefully she can turn her fortunes around this time as is deserving of a win,” Tony said.

The stable has an opportunity to achieve a winning double at this Saturday’s meeting as Far More Radiant is likely to start the favoured runner in the Troy Blagus Electrical Maiden Plate.

Far More Radiant has been highly regarded by the McEvoys since making her debut in the Listed Debutant Stakes at Caulfield on October 16 last year.

The youngster has only had two race starts when unplaced on both occasions, but Tony believes she will have a better preparation following a short spell.

“She has come back a lot better this time and I am looking forward to her racing this campaign,” he said.

Far More Radiant is ready to resume at Mildura on Saturday after winning two jump outs over the past three weeks.

“The jump outs have been really good and is ready to return to the races. It is a suitable race for her and hopefully she can bring up her first win,” Tony said.

The visiting stable of Kylie and Steven Vella has been in the district for two weeks and will line up the track specialist Angelone in the Mallee Bigscreen Hire 0-58 Handicap.

Angelone has won two races from 13 outings with both victories achieved at the Mildura circuit so he can continue his top form at the track this Saturday.

Boltonova is from the Brett Campbell stable at Gawler and he will provide plenty of opposition in the race as he has been competing against handy horses at Morphettville recently following an easy win at Donald in May.

The first of seven races on the program is the Mildura & District Real Estate Maiden Plate to be run at 12.56pm and the South Australian visitor Bellezze can open her winning account at her fifth race start.

Bellezze is from the Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor stable at Angaston in SA who will be hoping to continue their recent run of success at the Mildura meeting this Saturday.

There will be plenty of free activities for the children throughout the day including a jumping castle, face painting and pony rides.

The family fun day will be a fun-filled day for the whole family with live music to entertain patrons along with a wide variety of food trucks operating during the meeting.

Big Screens will be on-course for viewing of the local races as well as the Flemington meeting in Melbourne and the Morphettville program in Adelaide.

There will be free giveaways to the first 30 children to be on-course.

Entry to the meeting is by a gold-coin donation with proceeds going to the Mildura Base Public Hospital Foundation.
