PEOPLE affected by cancer will soon have access to a free two-week cancer information program in Mildura designed to offer support, guidance, and practical advice.
Cancer Council Victoria’s Managing Cancer program, led by local health professionals, will be held at Sunraysia Cancer Resources starting next month.
The sessions will cover a range of topics, including cancer treatments, managing fatigue, healthy eating, nutrition, and the benefits of physical activity. Cancer Council Victoria’s education and training program coordinator Tracie Julian said the program has proven to be a valuable resource for those impacted by cancer.
“Run by experts in a relaxed and comfortable environment, the sessions have proven extremely beneficial for both people with cancer and those supporting them,” she said.
“The program provides a unique opportunity for anyone with cancer, as well as their friends and family, to ask questions of a health professional outside of the hospital setting.
“People can also connect with others in the community who are going through a similar experience.” On average, 373 people are diagnosed with cancer in the greater Mildura region each year.
The Managing Cancer program has been running for more than 25 years and is held at hospitals and healthcare services across Victoria.
“We’re really proud that attendees continue to tell us how valuable these sessions are,” Ms Julian said.
Cancer Council Victoria’s Managing Cancer program will begin on April 8. To sign up or learn more, contact Sunraysia Cancer Resources at 03 5025 8866 or coordinator@scr.org.au.
